Weird Wednesdays - 1O Weird Facts For Your Enjoyment

Today is the first post in a series that I like to call "Weird Wednesdays" where I will be going over 10 random weird facts that are sure to leave you thinking or squeamish.

1. Even the moon is trying to get away from us...

The moon is moving away from the Earth at a tiny, although measurable, rate every year. If we go back to 85 million years ago, the moon was orbiting the Earth about 35 feet from the planet's surface.

2. It has never rained in the Atacama Desert of Chile

Did you know that it has never rained in the Atacama Desert of Chile? Here I was thinking that my sense of humour was dry...

3.  You can't cry in space

In space, astronauts cannot cry because there is no gravity and tears can't flow. i guess my emotional ass can never be an astronaut...sorry aliens, guess you have to come to me.

4. Most lipstick contains fish scales

If your lipstick contains the ingredient pearlescence or pearl essence, that's just fancy talk for "fish scales", sorry vegans.

5. Keep little things out of your mouth

An average of 100 people choke to death on ballpoint pens every year, I guess that it's not such a great substitute for an oral fixation after all. 

6. No Sneks You Say?

Antarctica is the only continent without snakes or reptiles, it's also colder than my heart, when can I move in?

 7. Nutmeg: Not Just a Topping For Eggnog

Nutmeg is extremely poisonous if injected intravenously, don't do spices kids.

8. Just Beat It

Your heart beads over 100,000 a day, mine probably beats 200,000+ due to my overwhelming caffeine consumption.

9. Can't...Get...Clean

There are more living organisms on the skin of a single human being than there are human beings on the surface of the Earth. That fact will surely help me with my OCD.

10. Battle of The Sexes

Generally Men can read smaller print than women however women can hear better. Ugh, do you have to read so loudly? I can't hear my own thoughts! Oh well, probably for the best.
